Take a look at the following two pictures and see if you don’t agree. The first picture here is my first baby picture, taken 30 years ago. Unfortunately we don’t have any baby pictures of Hong to do any comparisons.
To everyone who’s sent congratulatory e-mail over the past few days, thank you very much! I’m not ignoring you by not replying, just haven’t had much time as you might expect. Hong’s busy taking care of Maggie and I’m busy taking care of Hong. Maggie’s already settled into a bit of a regular schedule where she’ll sleep for about three hours at a time, which helps a lot. It should only get easier with time.

Early Sunday morning, Hong woke me up complaining of regular contractions. Twelve hours and a C-section later, our baby daughter arrived into the world.
Name: Margaret “Maggie” Lian Seifert
Weight: 7 lbs, 11 oz
Length: 20.5 inches long
We have been in the hospital ever since. I’ll post more later, but in the meantime feel free to take a look at some baby pictures.

Hong’s back from the doctor’s, and still no dialation. However, her cervix has softened, and the doctor is guessing she’ll go into labor sometime in the next week.

Today is Hong’s due date, and still no sign of going into labor. Baby doesn’t want to come out and play!
When she went to the doctor’s last week, she had no signs of dialation yet, but she’s got another appointment this afternoon where they’ll do another cervical exam and hopefully be able to tell us more.
In other news, my mother just e-mailed me a picture of the quilted wall hanging she made for baby’s nursery. In case you’re wondering about the monkeys, that’s the theme of our nursery, seeing as how this year is the Year of the Monkey. However, it’s been very hard to find monkey-related items for a nursery.

Now that Bobby Fischer (I always thought it was spelled “Fisher”, but oh well) has been detained by the Japanese authorities for possible extradition to the U.S., he wants to renounce his U.S. citizenship. Diary of a madman, I say.

Koko the Gorilla, renowed for her ability to communicate with researchers through sign-language, recently had dental work performed on her after she indicated to her handlers about the pain in her mouth. Sounds pretty good, right?
Her teacher, Francine Patterson, was at her side when the anesthesiologist prepared to put her under in the morning, and apparently Koko asked to meet her specialists.
They crowded around her, and Koko, who plays favorites, asked one woman wearing red to come closer. The woman handed her a business card, which Koko promptly ate.
