We’re up very early this morning to prepare for our travel to China today. We’ve got a 9am flight out, and they say we should arrive three hours in advance for international flights. We only managed to get two hours of sleep last night, but I’m sure we’ll be able to get some of that back on the 15-hour flight from Chicago to Beijing. Plenty of pictures to share when I return in January, I promise!

I finished reading Dune last night, and I’m now completely hooked on the story. Now I want to read the entire series. I’ve added the books I don’t yet have to my Wish List, in case anyone is looking for good Christmas ideas for me.
Today I awoke to the first really cold morning of the winter here. Plenty of frost on the ground, although no snow to speak of as of yet.
Ya know, it’s odd, but I actually find myself browsing the web less now that I’m not working, compared to the days when I still worked at Amazon. Maybe it has something to do with me not wanting to tie up the phone line all day or something. Once I get a job, I want DSL.
I’m sure the news on this one will travel quickly, but Dean Kamen just announced his “IT” invention that was the hot buzz about a year ago. It’s a gyroscope-powered motorized scooter, which according to its inventor, “will be to the car what the car was to the horse and buggy,” As much as I would like to see this, I have a hard time believing this, as the device goes far slower than a car (17mph), doesn’t offer the safety or the comfort of a car, and only carries a single person. In fact, why would I get this when my bike does the exact same thing, and gives me some exercise to boot?
